Initiative 6 . Finally, shall we launch this initiative?

Assumption. The sponsor makes the decision to launch this initiative preferably to another one. As the initiative launcher or leader, I do expect the sponsor to speak first in front of all the stakeholders and tell them what is changing, etc.

Sponsor's awareness message

Tool. Awareness in ADKAR model, awareness that there is a change in progress.

Whom does the sponsor address? They address the stakeholders among which both operators and supervisors. When? At a meeting, dedicated or not.

Experimentation - skills. Write the final version of the slide Awareness – obtain that the sponsor openly supports the initiative in the directors board and in the stakeholders committee, in whatever committee the initiative may be challenged.

Basically, we’d design the slide for the sponsor to present the initiative to their peers. What should we write on the slide? Answers to those four Awareness questions (same as previously):

  1. What change,
  2. why change,
  3. what risks if we fail and
  4. how it aligns with our business unit objectives.

Silas. I've tried to convince the sponsor that she was the one to speak. PM. Her reaction? Silas. Mixed feelings. Not about how good the initiative is, but why pick this one rather than another? PM. Relevant question, of course. Silas. I agree; as far as I am concerned, I would deplore an initiative confiscates me resources under the pretext that it has been approved the latest. PM. Something must remain unclear in the sponsor’s mind: maybe the compelling reason to act? Silas. You bet ; or perhaps she is worried about our ability to finish quickly? PM. Why finish quickly? Silas. This is what I ask of initiatives competing with mine: the faster they are completed, the quicker resources are available again. PM. Sounds logical. Silas. In any case, the sponsor asks me to elaborate first about the four killing questions: need, capability, competition and gain. PM. Where could you find the answers? Silas. In the field. PM. In the field, again and again. Silas. Understood. There I go.
